Man City warned to 'take their time' over Harry Kane and Jack Grealish transfers

Manchester City have been warned they need to stay patient in their pursuit of England stars Harry Kane and Jack Grealish this summer.

The pair remain a high priority for the Premier League champions, who are looking to strengthen their side going into the new season.

Pep Guardiola's side are in desperate need of a striker following the departure of the club's record goalscorer Sergio Aguero.

Kane has told Tottenham he wishes to leave the club, though chairman Daniel Levy will make it hard for any transfer to go through, however, with the striker valued at around £150m - over double the amount of City's current transfer record.

Aston Villa captain Grealish also won't come cheaply, with the West Midlands side valuing their influential captain at around the £100m mark.

Coupled with the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the Premier League's investigation into City's alleged breach of the Financial Fair Play rules, it could be difficult for them to sign both players in the same transfer window.

But former Villa and Ireland forward Tony Cascarino says City must be prepared to wait until later in the window for any potential progress - pointing to the moves for Alexis Sanchez and Virgil van Dijk as examples.

“There is a pursuit of a transfer and it can take a long time,” Cascarino told talkSPORT as per the Birmingham Mail.

“Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United took nearly a year to get it over the line. Virgil van Dijk took a long time to get to Liverpool.

"Big transfers take their time. Obviously, Harry would be wanted by many, many different clubs. and Jack likewise. It’s not always easy.”
