The second half of Manchester City vs West Ham was delayed as snow was cleared off the pitch.
Storm Arwen has wreaked havoc across the country over the weekend and after days of wind and rain, Sunday has brought heavy snow to much of the North.
The Premier League fixture between Burnley and Tottenham had to be postponed due to the adverse weather conditions but City's match against West Ham was able to go ahead as planned as snowfall was light ahead of kick-off and the pitch was cleared.
However, as the half wore on the snow began to intensify, coating the pitch in a thick layer which has made passing the ball difficult and visibility drastically reduced. The penalty area, half-way and centre-circle lines were near invisible as referee Michael Oliver brought the half to a close.
The City groundstaff immediately raced on to the pitch at half-time armed with their shovels to try and clear the pitch, but the snow continued to come down thicker than they could clear it.
Oliver was seen talking with a groundsman during the break as doubts began to increase about the likelihood of the game being completed.
But an extended half time break of around 20 minutes was enough to clear the pitch enough to allow the match to resume.
The Blues went into the break a goal to the good after Ilkay Gundogan turned in Riyad Mahrez' low cross from close range, but the Hammers had plenty of chances of their own in a closely contested encounter.
