Man City vs Tottenham lineups: Confirmed team news, predicted XIs and latest injury news

Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino face a big test in just the second game of their Premier League seasons as Manchester City host Tottenham on Saturday.

Man City kicked off their title defence in dominant fashion with a 5-0 victory at West Ham - the sort of result which marks Guardiola's men out as favourites once again.

But as budding fantasy football managers know, trying to predict a Guardiola XI is like trying to nail jelly to a wall.

Bernardo Silva did not get a minute against West Ham, but it would be a shock if he did not start versus Tottenham.

Gabriel Jesus started at London Stadium, but is likely to drop out for Sergio Aguero - and given Leroy Sane's lengthy layoff due to an Achilles injury, Riyad Mahrez will be hoping for another start in attack.

Fernandinho is still working up to match fitness, but he may be reintroduced in place of summer signing Rodri if Guardiola deems the Brazilian's destructive defensive midfield prowess necessary to contain Spurs.

Benjamin Mendy remains out with a knee injury meaning Oleksandr Zinchenko should start at left-back, while Joao Cancelo is once again likely to take up a place on the bench.

As for Spurs, Pochettino will likely hand a start to Christian Eriksen despite doubts over the Dane's future.

There remains an outside possibility that Eriksen could be sold to a Spanish club before the September 2 European transfer deadline, but such was his impact off the bench in the 3-1 comeback win over Aston Villa that Pochettino cannot really do without his creativity.

With Heung-min Son still suspended from a red card at Bournemouth last season, Lucas Moura will likely join Harry Kane in attack once again.

Ben Davies is on the comeback trail, but Dele Alli (thigh), Juan Foyth (Achilles) and Ryan Sessegnon (thigh) are not available.

Predicted lineups

Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko; De Bruyne, Fernandinho, David Silva; Mahrez, Aguero, Bernardo Silva

Spurs XI: Lloris; Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Ndombele, Winks, Sissoko; Eriksen, Kane, Moura
