Man City vs Tottenham: Five goals in 21 minutes sets Champions League record

Manchester City and Tottenham's breathtaking Champions League quarter-final second leg sent records tumbling as the Premier League rivals took turns in adding to the scoresheet during a whirlwind start.

Tottenham won the first leg 1-0 in north London last week courtesy of a Heung-min Son strike, but City needed just four minutes to level the tie at the Etihad Stadium.

Kevin De Bruyne passed the ball out wide to Raheem Sterling and the forward curled a brilliant effort past Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham replied in stunning style with two away goals from Son in the space of three minutes following mistakes from Aymeric Laporte.

Laporte could only clear Alli's pass to Son on the edge of the area and the forward curled a shot under Ederson.

Then, after Laporte gave away possession following a poor touch, Tottenham broke and Son produced another classy finish into the corner.

A blistering start to the game continued as City made it 2-2 in the 11th minute when Bernardo Silva's effort was deflected past Lloris.

That incredible start - four goals in the opening 11 minutes - set a new record as the fastest four goals ever scored in a single Champions League match.

But the goals kept coming, as Sterling tapped in De Bruyne's cross at the back post to make it 3-2 after just 21 minutes.

Sterling's second duly broke the record for the fastest five goals in a Champions League game - previously set by Borussia Dortmund and Legia Warsaw at 24 minutes.
