Man City vs Brentford prediction and odds ahead of Premier League clash

Manchester City will be looking to go into the World Cup break on a high with victory over Brentford at the Etihad on Saturday.

And go out on a high they should. City are just 1/8 with Betfred to keep the pressure on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League with three points against a Brentford side yet to win a game on the road this term. The Bees are 16/1 to break that duck at the most unlikely of destinations.

City have been faultless at home this term, winning all seven of their games and racking 29 goals in the process - that's ten more than league-leaders Arsenal. Pep Guardiola's side have recovered well from their defeat at Anfield, winning all three Premier League games as well as sealing top spot in their Champions League group and seeing off Chelsea in their opening EFL Cup game.

City haven't been flawless at the back - indeed they have conceded in their last two home league games, but their xGA of 9.9 is the lowest in the division (Arseneal second best on 11.2) and misfiring Brentford are likely to struggle to create many meaningful opportunities.

Thomas Frank's side have won just one of their last nine matches in all competitions and they have only picked up one point on the road since the end of August.

The Bees have fared okay on chance creation recently despite not having won any of their last five games, but the reality is that Brentford tend to struggle if Ivan Toney doesn't score - which he hasn't done in any of his last three Premier League matches.

Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo have managed just one league goal each since the 5-2 demolition of Leeds on September 3 so Brentford's attacking threat has dwindled somewhat in the last month and they are going to struggle to threaten the league's best defence - even if they can get the ball.

Man City vs Brentford prediction

This looks about as straightforward as it gets for City. The hosts won this fixture 2-0 last term and a similarly routine victory looks on the cards again.

With that in mind, the safest option is to back the reigning champions to win without conceding, which is a 5/6 chance with Betfred.
