Man City vs Bayern Munich Champions League quarter-final dates confirmed

Manchester City have confirmed the dates for both legs of their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich.

Pep Guardiola will return to face the side he managed for three seasons after being drawn against a second consecutive German side in the knockout stages of this year's competition. City progressed past RB Leipzig thanks to a resounding 7-0 second-leg win on Tuesday, which followed a 1-1 draw in Leipzig.

The Blues drew a home tie in the first leg of the last-eight and will host Bayern at the Etihad on Tuesday April 11, with the return leg at the Allianz Arena the following week on Wednesday, April 19. Both ties will kick-off at 8pm UK time.

Friday's draw for the quarter-finals saw City handed a tough route to the final, starting with the tie against Bayern. The German outfit have won the European Cup or Champions League six times in their history, most recently in 2019/2020. Julien Nagelsmann's side have faltered ever so slightly in the Bundesliga this season but remain two points clear at the top and full of big-game experience.

A win over two legs against the Bavarian side will set up a clash with one of Real Madrid or Chelsea, the former bringing back bad memories at the semi-final stage from a year ago. City looked on course to make it to the final 12 months ago, holding a two-goal aggregate advantage over the Spanish side as the clock hit 90 minutes in the second leg, before Rodrygo's brace and Karim Benzema's extra-time penalty inexplicably turned the tie on its head.

The other half of the draw looks more open on paper, with Napoli facing AC Milan and Inter Milan meeting Benfica. Italy are the only country with three teams left in the competition, and it is the side from Naples - currently 18 points clear in Serie A and enjoying one of their best ever seasons - who are favourites for a place in the final come June.
