Man City vs Atalanta odds: Ilkay Gundogan backed for first goal against Serie A side at 9/1

Pep Guardiola insists his side are "still not ready" to win the Champions League.

The 3/1 favourites have won their opening two group matches against Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb scoring five and keeping two clean sheets in the process.

Yet despite their impressive run, the manager insists they are still some way from winning the elusive trophy.

They welcome Italian side Atalanta last played in England back in 2017 thrashing Everton 5-1 in the Europa League.

The Pools spoke to Stuart Brennan ahead of the match:

Recommended bets:

  • Ilkay Gundogan to score first - 9/1
  • Man City to win and both - 5/4

Win, lose or draw?

Atalanta have lost both group games so far, and look wide open for City to make it three wins in as many matches at 1/5 .

Who's a good bet for 1st scorer?

Ilkay Gundogan is due a goal, revels in European nights and is 9/1 to score first - remember his double strike against Barcelona?

Who's on pens?

Sergio Aguero should be back in the starting XI and would grab any spot kicks. The striker watched the Crystal Palace game from the bench so expect him to play a full 90 against Atalanta. He's 5/2 to score first or 2/1 to score two or more goals .

Who is on the naughty step?

John Stones was slow and cumbersome last time he returned from injury, and that could cost him against some nippy forwards.

Will City keep a clean sheet?

Atalanta are a bold attacking team, and if they throw everything at City - as predicted - they could well score one or two and conceded a bucketful.

City are 4/6 to concede or 11/10 to keep a clean sheet .
