Man City vs Arsenal prediction: Aubameyang to set example against Premier League champions

Arsenal's doom and gloom start to the season was saved, sort of, thanks to a dominant performance against West Brom in the Carabao Cup - however they now have to travel to face Manchester City.

Man City are the heavy favourites in this tie at 1/4 while Arsenal are 11/1 longshots with Grosvenor Sport and a draw is 21/4.

A convincing 6-0 win performance midweek could be the confidence boost Mikel Arteta and his side need to get their season going.

Skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looked sharp as he recovered from illness and with Alexandre Lacazette back in the mix too it is a welcome boost in attack for Arsenal's squad.

Pep Guardiola's side, meanwhile, are adapting to life without much depth up front. Depsite investing £100m in Jack Grealish, their failure to get Harry Kane could come back to bite them if they are to focus their striking needs solely on Gabriel Jesus.

However, at this time, they do not seem too out of place despite losing 1-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tips

  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score anytime - 19/5
  • Man City to win and both sides to score - 41/20

Team stats

Man City are unbeaten in their last 11 league games against Arsenal - winning nine and drawing twice since their 2-1 defeat at the Emirates back in December 2015. Under Guardiola, they have taken 28 out of a possible 30 points against the Gunners.

Arsenal have lost each of their last eight Premier League meetings with City, their joint-longest run (Leeds United being the other) of consecutive defeats against any opponent in their league history.
