Man City unveil special 125th anniversary kit ahead of Community Shield against Liverpool

Manchester City will wear a special shirt for Sunday's Community Shield against Liverpool to mark the club's 125th anniversary.

The Puma design features no branding or sponsorship to reflect the classic, simple design of the club's first strips.

One the back features a ship, which more than half of fan votes selected as the city symbol after the Manchester Ship Canal which helped facilitate trade in the city in the late 19th century.

The inside collar has a copy of the club’s founding document, signed by Joshua Parlby, who managed the club in the 1980s after reforming Ardwick AFC into the club we know today.

A description reads: The kit is inspired by the Club’s history, with specific design elements voted for by the Club’s fans, and is primarily light blue with a white trim. The crest features gold embroidery denoting the Club’s 125 years.

"A limited edition run of 1,894 individually numbered authentic shirts will be produced to reflect the Club’s founding year, as well as replica shirts for men, women and kids."

The entire strip include white shorts and sky blue socks.
