Man City under-23 and under-18 Players of the Year confirmed

It's not been a bad couple of weeks for Manchester City youngsters Jayden Braaf and Cole Palmer, who have been training with the first team after the academy season was curtailed.

Both players have been rewarded for their performances at youth level with senior call-ups as Pep Guardiola looks for as many options as possible to navigate a hectic fixture schedule.

The Premier League ended the academy season at under-23 level and below, with a decision still to be taken on whether City's under-18's can continue their FA Youth Cup run. The young Blues are into the semi-finals of the competition they were runners-up in last season.

Gareth Taylor's under-18's have already won the Under-18 Premier League Cup after beating Stoke 6-0 in the final, while they were also leading the U18 Premier League North before the pandemic ended the campaign.

Leading that group was Palmer, who has been recognised for his efforts by being named City's under-18 Player's Player of the Year. Palmer was a substitute in City's recent Premier League trip to Chelsea, and continues to train with the first team.

Palmer, City's under-18 captain, scored a very impressive 15 goals in 14 U18 Premier League appearances, with five assists.

Midfielder James McAtee won the U18 Player of the Year award.

At under-23 level, Braaf has been named City's Player's Player of the Year after a prolific season which included some eyecatching goals.

Braaf, only 17 but performing well in the U23 age group, scored 11 goals with 3 assists in 27 appearances for City across all competitions - including one goal in three games against Football League opposition in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who has featured for the first team on a number of occasions, won the EDS Player of the Year award.
