Man City transfer stance on Ian Carlo Poveda amid Leeds United speculation

Manchester City are willing to let young winger Ian Carlo Poveda leave the club as he enters the last six months of his contract.

Poveda, 19, has played 11 times for the Under-23 side this season, but has only made the matchday squad once in the Carabao Cup win over Southampton at the Etihad where he was an unused substitute.

The England U20 international only has one senior appearance for City - in last season's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Burton - but was part of the squad that travelled to China and Hong Kong for pre-season last summer.

Now, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, MEN Sport understand Poveda can leave the club either in January or in the summer.

Leeds United are interested in signing the 19-year-old as they look to bolster their squad and secure promotion to the Premier League.

City winger Jack Harrison is already on loan at Elland Road and is impressing in his second season at the club.

Reports also suggested Serie A outfit Torino are looking at Poveda, who was not in the squad for the recent EFL Trophy defeat at Scunthorpe United having played in previous rounds this season.

Last month, Poveda told MEN Sport how he is a regular in first team training and was waiting for his opportunity to show his talent in games.

"Having young players in the team I have to help them out and it's good to see that they're learning and improving as well," he said.

"I train with the first team every day and it's really good, I'm learning every day new things. I just have to knuckle down and keep working hard and wait for my opportunity and when it comes I'll take it."
