Man City transfer round-up: Kane plan emerges as Ronaldo 'offered' Etihad move

Manchester City may have only added one player to the starting XI this summer, but it was a huge transfer in the form of the £100million outlayed to sign Jack Grealish.

The Aston Villa captain made the switch earlier this month, adding yet another talented midfielder to Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Grealish made his City Premier League debut in the defeat to Tottenham, with their lack of options at centre-forward plain to see.

City have yet to replace Sergio Aguero, who joined Barcelona after his contract expired at the end of last season.

Guardiola opted to start without a traditional striker, with Gabriel Jesus brought on in the second-half of the 1-0 loss.

Harry Kane was left out of the Spurs squad for that clash as speculation continues to link him with a move to The Etihad.

Here are the latest Manchester City transfer rumours:

Ronaldo ‘offered’

Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered Cristiano Ronaldo to Man City, according to reports in the Italian press.

The 36-year-old has just one season remaining on his deal at Juventus and with the Bianconeri unlikely to extend, he could be allowed to leave this summer.

Corriere dello Sport claim Mendes is in the UK attempting to negotiate a move for his most famous client.

And after unsuccessfully attempting to broker a switch to PSG, the super-agent has now reportedly turned his attention to the Premier League champions.

The report adds that City owner Sheikh Mansour is thinking about sanctioning a deal, 12 months after narrowly missing out on Lionel Messi.

Real Madrid had also been linked with a potential reunion, although manager Carlo Ancelotti has appeared to dismiss those rumours.

Focus remains on Kane

Manchester Evening News suggest that City’s transfer focus remains firmly fixed on signing Kane from Tottenham.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ready to rebuff any offers, unless they get closer to his £160m valuation for the striker.

The report claims City are busily trying to bridge the gap between what they are willing to outlay and what Spurs deem as an acceptable offer.

It adds that Etihad bosses are attempting to offload a number of fringe squad players, as well as any first-team player who there is a buying club for.

Harry Kane finally returned to Tottenham training this week, after his extended break following England’s exploits at Euro 2020.

Delap decision made

Liam Delap is set to stay at Man City this season, despite several interested suitors from the Championship.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a prolific season for the U23s last term, winning the Golden Boot as the Elite Development Squad won the Premier League 2 title.

He was involved in a number of first-team squads and has been linked with a number of clubs hoping to sign him on a season-long loan.

However, Man City U23 coach Brian Barry-Murphy has said he believes Delap will be promoted to the senior squad full time.

"Liam’s dad is a very good friend of mine," Barry-Murphy told MEN Sport.

"I think Rory’s trying to stay out of it, so I was going to follow suit. I know Liam’s recovering from injury at the moment.

"Obviously his progress is there for all to see and I presume he’s very much part of the first-team plans and that’s how he progresses in the future."
