Man City transfer round-up: Erling Haaland push and Pep Guardiola 'keen' on Barcelona starlet

Having seen his Man City side dispatch Swindon Town 4-1 in the FA Cup third round, albeit from his house, Pep Guardiola can once again turn his attention to bolstering his side as they make a run at not just the Premier League but the UEFA Champions League.

Still a striker short, recent reports have claimed that midfield is the area of the pitch the club are looking to strengthen.

Barcelona's starlet Gavi has popped up on City's radar as they look to increase their dominance in English football, with Guardiola said to be a big fan on Barca's teenage sensation.

Then, of course, there is Erling Haaland.

Here are all the latest Man City transfer rumours.

Have Your Say! Who do you want Man City to sign in January? Let us know in the comments here.

Haaland's a priority

Having failed to replace Sergio Aguero in the summer and losing Ferran Torres in January, City have settled on their prime target to lead their line for the next decade.

The Athletic have reported that the club will make it their priority to sign Erling Haaland from German club Borussia Dortmund in the summer and beat off every major club in Europe.

Haaland's dad is a former City player and that link to the club has always been seen as a major positive for the current Premier League leaders.

Securing a deal for such a well sought after player won't be easy and with a £64million release clause, there's bound to be an offer from multiple clubs.

But the report adds that City will look to get a head start and open up talks over the next few weeks.

Man Utd pull out

If City are going to push for Haaland, then Manchester United won't be joining them.

They are no longer interested in signing the Borussia Dortmund ace, as first reported by the Daily Star.

They've done so because he's said to want to join Real Madrid - meaning City have a real fight on their hands if they're to persuade the Norwegian to be their next No.9.

Guardiola's Gavi wish

Cash-strapped Spanish club Barcelona may be losing one the brightest prospects to the Premier League as City pursue Gavi.

The Daily Mail, via El Nacional, claim that Guardiola is a fan and is 'keen' to make a move for the 17-year-old.

With a release clause of £42million and a contract that runs out in 2023, a move from the current Premier League leaders could be too good to turn down.

However, the report goes to on to say that the teenager is 'hesitant' about leaving Spain for England so soon in his career which could scupper any potential deal.
