Man City transfer round-up: Duo tipped to leave as club line up wonderkid signing

There's little doubt that Pep Guardiola has assembled one of the strongest squads the Premier League has ever seen at Manchester City.

But with all that competition for a place in the starting XI comes the difficult matter of keeping players on the fringes happy with their reduced levels of involvement.

And that is exactly the scenario that is reported to be pushing two current Man City stars to consider leaving the club.

Both have been linked with moved away from the Etihad Stadium in January and speculation is mounting over their futures.

And perhaps with that in mind, Pep Guardiola is said to be lining up a 20-year-old wonderkid who first caught his eye 18 months ago.

Here are the latest Manchester City transfer rumours.

Who would you like Man City to sign in January? Let us know in the comments below

Sterling a 'viable option' for Barcelona

Raheem Sterling ‘wants to leave’ Manchester City, and the club are beginning to accept that fact, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports.

Mundo claims that Barcelona view Sterling as a ‘viable option’ for the club in the January window.

The report adds that ‘everything seems to fit’ for a move for Sterling and that he is seen as more realistic than a swoop for his teammate Ferran Torres or RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo.

Ake to leave?

Eddie Howe wants to reunite with former Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake at new club Newcastle United, 90min reports.

Newcastle are expected to splash the cash in January after their takeover by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund made them the richest club in world football.

And it is reported that Howe is prioritising his side's defence and midfield ahead of the January transfer window.

Wonderkid targeted

City have negotiated a deal to sign Montevideo City Torque defender Renzo Orihuela, Uruguayan outlet Referi reports.

The 20-year-old is reported to have caught admiring glances from City's scouting team 18 months ago and a £5.9m agreement is in place for the player to one day move to the Etihad.

Orihuela's club are part of the City Football Group and so Guardiola's team are said to be monitoring the defender's progress with a view on a future move.
