Man City transfer round-up: Barcelona move for second star as Gavi eyed

Manchester City could be set to do more business with Barcelona in this month's January transfer window.

Pep Guardiola's side have alread sold the 21-year-old to the La Liga giants for an initial fee of £46million, with potential add-ons meaning the deal could rise to £54million.

But Barca could return with a move for a second City player as new manager Xavi looks to strengthen his defence.

And with the Catalan club desperate to raise funds amid their ongoing financial difficulties, City have entered the race to sign young midfield profdigy Gavi.

Here are all the latest Man City transfer rumours.

Have Your Say! Who do you want Man City to sign in January? Let us know in the comments here.

Barca prepare second swoop

Barcelona could swoop for a second City player after wrapping up the signing of Feran Torres, it is claimed.

The Sun claims Barcelona's rebuild under Xavi could see the Catalan giants reignite negotiations with City as they seek the services of Aymeric Laporte.

It's claimed that Xavi's side are keen on partnering Laporte in the heart of defence with his former City teammate and compatriot Eric Garcia.

Barca had also been linked with a move for Raheem Sterling before sealing the signing of Torres.

City enter race for Gavi

Pep Guardiola is preparing to swoop for Barcelona's teenage midfield prodigy Gavi, it has been reported.

El Nacional claims City have entered the race for the highly-rated youngster, who is also reportedly being tracked by Liverpool, Chelsea and PSG.

The 17-year-old has already broken into the Spanish national team, making his debut in October last year and has featured four times so far for his country.

El Nacional claims City are ready to "multiply his salary and want to establish him as the cornerstone of the club's future".

But Guardiola has a tough job on his hands to convince the midfielder to move to the Premier League as Gavi said to have been "clear that his place is at Barca".

Transfer budget revealed

City have £150m to spend during this month's January transfer window, it has been claimed.

Manchester Evening News reports that, based on Financial Fair Play rules, the Blues had £84m to spend before the sale of Ferran Torres to Barcelona was confirmed.

City had been expected to have a fairly quiet month but may now look to bring fresh blood in to help their Premier League title charge.

It means boss Pep Guardiola could have enough money to being in the top-class centre-forward he craves – if he can persuade another club to part with their goalscorer.
