Man City training squad ahead of Atalanta Champions League fixture revealed

Manchester City have been given an injury boost ahead of their clash against Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday night with Rodri returning to first team training.

The summer signing has been out of action since the home game against Atalanta when he pulled up with a hamstring problem and Guardiola had ruled him out until after the next international break.

But the 23-year-old came out with his teammates as Pep Guardiola's squad trained in front of the media at the City Football Academy on Tuesday morning ahead of their flight to Italy but when the full session began he went back indoors so it's possible he may not to travel.

One player who was missing from the session was David Silva who is expected to miss both the Atalanta and Liverpool games after he complained of a muscle problem towards the end of the first half against Southampton last weekend.

"I didn't speak with the doctor but when he has a muscular problem and cannot play more minutes it is because he has something and when it is a muscular problem it is always a minimum of 10-12 days," Guardiola said after the game.

With Silva likely to miss the game 18-year-old midfielder Tommy Doyle, who made his first team debut against Southampton in the Carabao Cup last week, was part of the training squad.

Aleks Zinchenko was absent from the session as he continues to recover from surgery on his knee while long term absentees Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are obviously still missing.

Guardiola will face the media in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday evening where he should be able to give an update on the availability on his players and any team news.

Confirmed Manchester City training squad.

Goalkeepers: Ederson, Bravo, Carson

Defenders: Walker, Stones, Angelino, Mendy, Cancelo, Otamendi, Garcia,

Midfielders: Gundogan, Bruyne, Bernardo, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Foden, Doyle,  Rodri (didn't take part in full session)

Forwards: Sterling, Jesus, Aguero
