Man City told why they should be interested in AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer amid PSG links

Wael Gomaa has explained why Manchester City should be interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer.

Pep Guardiola's side have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old as a potential replacement for David Silva who will leave at the end of the season. City were not focussing on midfield reinforcements before the coronavirus pandemic, but may now be open to additions in that area if the right deal presents itself.

Paris Saint-Germain are also credited with an interest in Bennacer and RMC Sport report they have already had a €30million bid rejected by AC Milan.

Bennacer joined AC Milan from Empoli last summer for €16million on a five-year deal, which is reported to have a €50million release clause.

Having heavily impressed for the Italian club, they are said to be unwilling to allow him to leave for anything less than that figure.

However, Egyptian football legend Gomaa believes that City and PSG's reported interest is well placed and believes he would be a fantastic addition for either club following a fine season at the San Siro.

“Ismael Bennacer is one of the best players this season with Milan. His level develops from one match to another in addition to his distinguished role in the team,” tweeted Gomaa.

“This one explains the interest of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in him; he also has a beautiful future ahead, God willing.”
