Manchester City transfer target Harry Kane has been a better England captain than Wayne Rooney.
That's the verdict from talkSPORT pundit and former City forward, Trevor Sinclair, who was asked to compare the Tottenham striker with Manchester United great Rooney.
Kane reluctantly pledged his future to the Londoners this summer after being priced out of a high-profile move to the Etihad Stadium.
City were able to splash out for £100million man Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.
However, after identifying Kane as a primary target to replace Sergio Aguero - now with Spanish giants Barcelona - that follow-up pursuit fell by the wayside.
Kane and Grealish are currently away on England duty and the former could make history this month. The 28-year-old has scored 36 competitive goals for the Three Lions - and that's only one behind his former captain Rooney (37).
Matches against Andorra and Hungary are impending for Kane and his teammates.
Asked which frontman has been the better leader for his national side, Sinclair said: "When you are talking about defining moments and what you've achieved at international level, it's definitely Harry Kane.

"He's been to the semi-finals of the World Cup, final of the Euros and he's been in a much more successful English national team than Wayne Rooney was.
"When you look at the England squad, how progressive it's been since Gareth Southgate took over and how the performances and results have improved - and the distance and depth in which they've got in tournaments - then I've got to say Harry Kane has been the better captain."
