Shaun Goater believes Jack Grealish would be perfect to play a false nine role at Manchester City.
It's been a slow start to a vital summer transfer window for City, with the club looking to bounce back from their agonising Champions League final defeat as well as replace departed icon Sergio Aguero.
The lack of activity so far can be attributed to this summer's European Championship, as deals have been hard to pull off while players were busy representing their national teams.
One such player is Aston Villa star Grealish, who shone when given an opportunity in England's Euro 2020 campaign, especially in the last-16 victory over Germany.
The Manchester Evening News understands that the Blues are ready to spend £100 million on Grealish, and a deal could soon get moving following the conclusion of Euro 2020.
Pep Guardiola is a long-time admirer of the 25-year-old and sources close to the player believe he will secure a move to the Etihad this summer.
A striker is still the club's priority signing but with Harry Kane and Erling Haaland proving difficult to get, Goater thinks that Grealish would be able to operate in a central role instead.
"Jack Grealish shows us the qualities he has every week, he's a very intelligent footballer," Goater told FreeSuperTips.
"He would be able to cope with the movements of the players at City and the movements of the defenders because he's an intelligent player.
"He would fit in because he can play out wide or in the number ten position and he's so good at driving forward with the ball.
"Essentially he could do a role in a false nine, I think he would work perfectly."
