Manchester City have been told a January swoop for Harry Kane would be feasible, but only if that allows current club Tottenham to spend elsewhere.
In the midst of THE summer transfer saga, the England captain was priced out of a high-profile move to the Etihad Stadium and Kane was, subsequently, forced to reluctantly pledge his immediate future to the Londoners.
Speculation over that agreement was a constant talking point either side of his Euro 2020 exploits.
Having coasted to a third Premier League title in four seasons, City did break the £100million barrier to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, but Tottenham dug their heels in over Kane and Daniel Levy refused to budge on a jaw-dropping £150m-plus price tag for the three-time Golden Boot winner.
Kane has yet to get off the mark in the Premier League this term, but the prolific 28-year-old did manage to grab a hat-trick off the bench against Europa Conference League opponents NS Mura on Thursday night.
Asked whether or not Kane could move on during the January window, talkSPORT pundit and ex-Tottenham man Darren Bent said: "Potentially. He would have scored goals in the Premier League, wouldn't he?

"It depends on the situation at the two clubs. It might be best for all concerned that he goes to Manchester City - and Spurs get whatever they want, that £150m.
"That gives Nuno [Espirito Santo] a chance, quickly, to dip into the transfer market. That's the only thing.
"When everyone knows - certainly in a short window like January - you've got £150m to spend all of a sudden the price of players just goes up."
