Man City 'to trigger £106m release clause for Joao Felix' and have advantage over Manchester United

Manchester City will trigger the £106m release clause for Benfica's Joao Felix in a bid to move ahead of Manchester United and Real Madrid in the chase for Joao Felix.

That is according to reports in Portugal, who say City have the slight advantage in the three-horse race to sign Felix.

Correio da Manhã (via  SportWitness ) say the three clubs will all offer Felix's £106m release clause, but City's offer is ahead as they will pay his agent commission.

However, the report adds that both United and Real Madrid are offering Felix a salary of €5m per season while City's offer is for €4.5m.

And another report in Portugal claims Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira has made a counter offer to the three clubs which would involve Felix remaining at the club for one more year.

Meanwhile, Celtic have line up a deal to sign Brandon Barker this summer, according to reports.

The Mail report the Scottish champions are looking to secure a ‘cut price’ move for the City winger in the summer window.

Barker, 22, spent the season on loan at Preston last season, but failed to establish a consistent run of starts in the league.

Finally, City are set to loan Zack Steffen out to Fortuna Dusseldorf when he joins the club this summer, reports say.

Goal suggest the 24-year-old will move to the Bundesliga club in the coming weeks as he gains experience in European football.

Steffen signed for City in December from Columbus Crew, but spent the first half of the 2019 MLS season on loan at his former club.
