Man City to 'press ahead' with Erling Haaland transfer as Aguero sends message to Sterling

Welcome to the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the Manchester City stories that you might have missed.

Of course, we're going to kick off with some news on Pep Guardiola's pursuit of a striker, and it seems City haven't been put off by Mino Raiola's extortionate demands as clubs look to lure his client Erling Haaland away from Borussia Dortmund.

Another striker who has been linked with a move to City is Dusan Vlahovic and former Italy striker Antonio Cassano has urged the Fiorentina hitman to move to the Etihad Stadium.

And finally, Raheem Sterling joined the illustrious Premier League 100 club on Saturday after his penalty secured the three points against Wolves, and City's club-record goalscorer Sergio Aguero was quick to welcome his former teammate to the club...

City 'not put off' by Haaland cost

This saga will probably still be rumbling on even after Haaland has chosen his new club.

The Norway striker is expected to leave Dortmund next summer, with just about every elite club in Europe chasing his signature.

The Sun report that Mino Raiola is demanding £47million commission from any side who want to thrash out a deal for his client, though the report adds that City haven't been put off by the lofty fees involved in the deal.

My view: £47 million in commission is absolutely absurd, but considering Haaland is rumoured to be available for as little as £68 million, even with Raiola's reported commission included it's still a relative bargain.

In all honesty, I'm not entirely convinced that City do need to sign a striker, but if they're determined to sign one then there really is no better option than Haaland.

Vlahovic told to choose City

And so the striker chat continues.

Another forward rumoured to be on City's wish-list is Fiorentina's Vlahovic. The 21-year-old's haul of 31 goals in 37 Serie A games last season alerted the attention of some of Europe's big hitters, and with 15 league goals already this season he looks to be a real prospect.

A recent dispute with Fiorentina means his exit from the club next summer looks likely, and former Roma striker Cassano has urged the youngster to move to City.

“Vlahovic, choose Guardiola and go to Manchester City. I don’t know if you’ll be up to it, but with a year you could reach Haaland’s level. If, on the other hand, you find a coach who does not know how to communicate with you, growth stops,” Cassano told Bobo TV.

My view: It's hard to argue with Vlahovic's Serie A record, but if City want to sign a striker next summer then the Serbia international should only be a backup option if the Haaland move doesn't materialise.

Both are young and so could be the focal point of City's attack for a long time to come, but Haaland is undoubtedly already one of the best in Europe and should be the main target.

Aguero welcomes Sterling to the club

Who doesn't love a bit of news about Sergio?

The City great was one of the first to welcome Sterling to the Premier League 100 club after the England international's penalty against Wolves on Saturday saw him tick into double figures for top-flight goals.

"Come on my bro," he replied to the official Man City Instagram account's tweet celebrating Sterling's achievement.

My view: As you've probably guessed by now, usually we use this section to respond to whatever transfer gossip is being reported, but what more is there to say about this?

It can't be denied that Sterling's record of 100 Premier League goals having only just turned 27 is incredible, and seeing Aguero cheer on his former teammate is enough to warm our hearts in even the coldest winter months. We miss you, Sergio.
