Man City 'to match any Premier League offer' for Real Betis defender Junior Firpo

Manchester City reportedly face competition from Barcelona for Real Betis defender Junior Firpo.

City have been linked with the 22-year-old before, and Pep Guardiola is said to have followed his progress this season 'closely'.

Now, Barcelona are interested in Firpo, according to Sport (via SportWitness ), and there are also suggestions Real Madrid are interested.

However, City remain keen on signing the left-back, whose agent is Guardiola's brother, and have told him that they will match any offer that is received for him from a Premier League rival.

That may not stop Firpo joining Barcelona, but it could mean that they will not miss out on his signing to another club in England.

City have previously looked at left-backs, although it isn’t currently seen as a priority position to strengthen this summer.

Meanwhile, Eliaquim Mangala's proposed move to Porto is off, reports say.

Mangala, who hasn't played for the club in 18 months but signed a new contract earlier this year, had been linked with a move to Portugal to revitalise his career.

But O Jogo report that Porto have pulled out of the deal after failing to match Mangala's wage demands.
