Man City 'to go for Harry Kane again in January' as unlikely striker alternative emerges

Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the Manchester City stories you might have missed.

Reports suggest City are set to reignite their interest in England captain Harry Kane - just in case you didn't get completely bored by that one over the summer!

City’s striker hunt will continue regardless and another Premier League forward has been linked with a surprise move to the Etihad Stadium.

And finally, Pep Guardiola's £100million man Jack Grealish has been told he's got to roll with it and take his time in Manchester...

Kane hunt continues

Even though City have been at their very best at times this season, you can’t help but think just how unstoppable they’d be if an elite striker had arrived during the previous transfer window.

Guardiola made Kane his number one target but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy played hardball in typical fashion and kept hold of his most prized asset. However, there still may be hope.

ESPN has reported that Antonio Conte is set to face an uphill task of keeping Kane as Guardiola’s side are ready to re-launch a bid for England’s number nine in January.

Kane’s performances this season have arguably been the worst of his career considering he has only scored once in the Premier League. Although he is clearly not at his best, many believe it’s down to the fact he was so desperate for a new challenge and devastated that the move to City did not come to pass.

"It was my first summer of transfer speculation and having to deal with those situations," Kane told reporters while on England duty this week. "So, of course, it takes a toll mentally on yourself but from my point of view, I've always had good friends and good family around me."

Kane to Manchester City speaks for itself and if the club manages to sign him, he could be the final ingredient needed to finally lift the Champions League.

Lacazette to City?

Despite the striker vacancy we've just discussed, one name that nobody would’ve imagined being linked with a move is Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

But according to Fichajes.net, the French striker fits into City’s plans as the club have been added to the number of teams interested in the Arsenal player.

Although he wouldn’t exactly be the Cityzens’ first choice, Lacazette will be able to join any club on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this season. He’s a player who’s got vast experience in the Premier League and could provide an alternative playing dimension to City’s game

Gallagher defends Grealish

Noel Gallagher is world-renowned for his musical achievements, but here in the sporting world, he’s known for one thing and one thing only- his love for Manchester City.

Gallagher has come to the defence of City’s record signing Grealish as the Englishman has been the subject of recent criticism.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Noel said: "It’s like when a player comes from a club where the team is built around him and he's the star and the team's focus is to get this guy playing because he's the man, but when he comes to a club where he's just another superstar player and he doesn't do that thing where he's the main man, of course, he's going to get slagged off. But I think he's doing great.

"Pep wouldn't be starting him every game if he wasn't playing well, he’s now in a team where he's just part of a great team, whereas at Villa, he was the team.

"I'd give it until Christmas and into next season and we'll see the best of him, but Guardiola has got no favourites in his team. He's got no favourites in that squad and he's not going to pick somebody just because he cost a tonne of money.”

Hopefully it won't be long until Super Jack is going supersonic in sky blue.
