Manchester City will meet Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
An exact date and kick-off time has not yet been allocated for the fixture but it will be played in the week commencing December 21 and played at the Emirates Stadium.
City got their League Cup campaign underway with a narrow victory over Championship side Bournemouth, with a very youthful side claiming a 2-1 win. The Blues then faced Premier League rivals Burnley on Wednesday but easily swept them aside in a comfortable 3-0 win, a strong response following the embarrassing 5-2 defeat to Leicester on Sunday.
It was Raheem Sterling who secured the win with his two goals, the first a thumping shot into the top corner from Benjamin Mendy's cross while the second was a simple tap-in after Ferran Torres' pass across the box. The Spaniard finished off the scoring with a composed finish to grab his first goal for the club.
Arsenal were the final team to qualify for the last eight with their match against Liverpool on Thursday night ending goalless and going to penalties, which the Gunners won 5-4.
The North London club have also defeated Leicester City to get to this point and the match will be another clash between Pep Guardiola and his former assistant Mikel Arteta, with the latter getting one over his former club in the FA Cup semi-finals last season.
City have won the League Cup for the last three years and Guardiola will no doubt be itching to get his hands on the trophy again after failing to win any other pieces of silverware last season.
