Man City to add new player to pre-season training squad

Manchester City have recalled Diego Rosa for pre-season training, his loan manager has confirmed.

Rosa, 18, signed for City from Gremio earlier this year, before spending the second half of the season on loan at City Football Group sister-club Lommel.

There, the midfielder played seven times as he adapts to European football. He is expected to remain on loan in Belgium for the 2021/22 season.

However, before that, reports say Rosa has been asked to join City's pre-season training squad as Pep Guardiola will still be without a number of his Euro 2020 and Copa America stars.

HBVL (via SportWitness ) say Rosa has been given the opportunity to 'train under the wing' of Guardiola during pre-season, before returning to Lommel to begin the new campaign.

Lommel manager Liam Manning said: “This is a great experience for Diego.

"Manchester City are currently missing so many players because of the European Championships and the Copa America in South America that they have invited Diego. This is a fantastic opportunity for him to use Manchester City’s training facilities."

On Instagram, Rosa shared a screenshot of a report confirming he will be spending time at City, adding the caption: "God doesn't fail. God be praised."

City signed Rosa at the start of the year for around £5.2m, with the fee able to rise to around £23m should he make the first team at the Etihad.

He was part of the Brazil squad who won the under-17 World Cup in 2019, along with fellow City loanee Yan Couto.
