Man City team vs Tottenham confirmed as Ferran Torres starts

Manchester City have named Ferran Torres in their starting line-up for the clash against Tottenham but Raheem Sterling can only make the bench.

City return to Premier League action following the two-week hiatus due to the international break and will now begin a four-month stint without international distractions.

Having drawn with Liverpool last time out, Pep Guardiola will be looking for his side to return to winning ways but their record at Spurs' new ground is not the best.

City are winless at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, losing 2-0 earlier this year and seeing Hugo Lloris save a penalty in each of their two matches at the ground.

Sterling had returned from international duty with England prematurely through injury but Spurs boss Jose Mourinho was convinced he would line-up against his side.

However, that is not the case as Sterling is only fit enough to make the bench, with Torres starting in his absence fresh from a hat-trick for Spain against Germany.

Phil Foden, who was also in fine form during the international break, is another named on the bench alongside Sergio Aguero, who has only recently returned to injury.

City's defensive line is as expected, with Rodri providing the protective blanket in midfield - where Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva are also named.

Gabriel Jesus continues to lead the line in Aguero's absence, with Riyad Mahrez completing the line-up.

Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Laporte, Dias, Cancelo; Rodri, De Bruyne, Silva; Torres, Jesus, Mahrez

Substitutes: Steffen, Stones, Sterling, Gundogan, Aguero, Foden, Garcia

Tottenham XI: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Ndombele; Bergwijn, Son, Kane

Substitutes: Hart, Davies, Rodon, Lo Celso, Bale, Lucas, Vinicius
