Man City team vs Bournemouth includes Liam Delap and Tommy Doyle

Liam Delap has been handed his senior Manchester City debut for tonight's Carabao Cup third round tie with Bournemouth.

City manager Pep Guardiola had said he will turn to the academy for the first game of the latest Carabao Cup defence, given the number of injuries in his senior squad and the quick turnaround between fixtures this week.

That has allowed Delap, 17, to make his first team debut after he was named on the bench for the first time last time out at Wolves. Delap was called up to first team training over the summer after being prolific at youth level, before taking that form into the EFL Trophy win at League Two side Mansfield earlier this month.

Joining Delap from the academy in the starting XI against Championship outfit Bournemouth is Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Adrian Bernabe and Tommy Doyle.

In goal, last summer's signing Zack Steffen makes his debut after returning to the club this year to compete with Ederson in the first team squad, while Kyle Walker, Eric Garcia and Harwood-Bellis make up the rest of what seems to be a three-man defence.

In midfield Rodri plays, with Doyle, Foden and Adrian Bernabe, while up front, Torres and Riyad Mahrez join Delap.

On the bench, Felix Nmecha and Cole Palmer could come on for their debuts, with firepower in Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling available.

Man City starting XI vs Bournemouth: Steffen, Walker (C), Garcia, Harwood-Bellis, Rodrigo, Doyle, Foden, Bernabe, Torres, Mahrez, Delap.

Substitutes: Carson, Ake, Sterling, De Bruyne, Mendy, Nmecha, Palmer.
