Man City team vs Borussia Monchengladbach includes Laporte and Jesus

Pep Guardiola has gone strong for Manchester City's Champions League last-16 first leg against Borussia Monchengladbach.

City are in Hungary for the away leg as Germany have Covid-19 restrictions in place, but away goals will still count for any scored by the Blues.

Guardiola took a 23-man squad for the game, with only Nathan Ake injured, and the strength in depth was reflected in City's starting line up in Budapest which includes Aymeric Laporte, Rodri and Gabriel Jesus.

Ederson is the nominated goalkeeper, protected by a defence of Kyle Walker back at right-back, Ruben Dias and Laporte in the centre, and Joao Cancelo on the left.

Rodri comes back into midfield after getting a rest at Arsenal on Sunday. Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva are alongside him.

In attack Gabriel Jesus returns through the middle, with captain Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden in support.

With 12 substitutes available to name, Guardiola can call upon the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero, who are fit enough to be named on the bench.

Man City starting XI vs Monchengladbach: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Rodrigo, Gundogan, Bernardo, Sterling (C), Foden, Jesus

Substitutes: Steffen, Carson, Stones, Aguero, Zinchenko, De Bruyne, Torres, Mendy, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Garcia, Doyle
