Man City team predicted vs Tottenham in Champions League - Sergio Aguero back, Gabriel Jesus dropped

Sergio Aguero could return for Manchester City in their Champoins League clash with Tottenham on Tuesday.

Aguero has missed City's last two fixtures through injury, but has trained for the past two days and could be in line for a timely return to the team.

If he is fit enough to start, he would be expected to replace Gabriel Jesus, who scored City's winning goal in the FA Cup semi-final win against Brighton on Saturday.

It is the harsh reality for Jesus, who scored City's winner against Brighton, as the Brazilian will know Aguero's quality and ability to step up in big games makes him the first choice for Pep Guardiola.

But Aguero's absence at Wembley at the weekend may have been with this quarter-final in mind, after he had been pictured training before the City squad travelled to London on Friday.

Assuming he is fit to play, Aguero should lead the line, supported by Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane in a strong forward line.

Tottenham will not make things easy for City, especially in their new stadium backed by an upbeat crowd, and Guardiola's team selection is likely to reflect the magnitude of the occasion.

That might mean a return for Fernandinho, who was rested on Saturday, alongside Kevin De Bruyne, who is in fine form.

That means one of Bernardo Silva and David Silva could be dropped, and Guardiola's previous team selections in big games suggest Bernardo may get the nod.

It would also provide a fine option from the bench in David Silva if needed.

In defence, John Stones could get a recall to face England teammate Harry Kane alongside Aymeric Laporte, while Guardiola has a full-back dilemma to solve.

Kyle Walker went off injured at the weekend, and Oleksandr Zinchenko may not be fit yet, so he may be forced to play Benjamin Mendy at left-back again for his second game in four days after 146 days since his previous start. Danilo would naturally come in at right back.

Predicted Man City XI vs Spurs: Ederson; Danilo, Stones, Laporte, Mendy; Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Bernardo; Sane, Sterling, Aguero.
