Man City team news vs West Ham confirmed as Rodri starts in pre-season opener

Manchester City's record signing Rodri starts for the first time in the opening pre-season fixture against West Ham today.

Rodri completed a £63m move from Atletico Madrid this summer, and is named in the starting line up for the clash with Manuel Pellegrini's Hammers.

Also in the side is left-back Angelino, who returns to City a year after leaving for PSV Eindhoven.

In defence, Aymeric Laporte and youngster Taylor Harwood-Bellis pair up in the first line-up since Vincent Kompany left the club, while Danilo - linked with a move away - completes the defensive line up.

Pep Guardiola had hinted that some players were not ready to play after the squad were delayed twice on their arrival to China, and he names a youthful line up with Tommy Doyle, Adrian Bernabe and Ian Poveda all starting.

There is likely to be a number of changes throughout the game as Guardiola eases his players into match action.

Upfront, Lukas Nmecha starts in the absence of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, who are both resting after their Copa America exploits this summer.

City will meet the winner of Newcastle vs Wolves on Saturday if they can get past West Ham in the Premier League Asia Cup final, or will face the loser in a third place play-off on the same day should they lose.

Confirmed Man City starting XI vs West Ham: Bravo; Danilo, Angelino, Laporte, Harwood-Bellis; Rodri, Silva (c), Doyle, Bernabe, Poveda; Nmecha.
