Man City sweating on major injury that could hand Liverpool huge advantage

Manchester City have been left sweating on the fitness of Sergio Aguero after their 2-0 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Aguero in the first half sent Pep Guardiola's side back to the top of the Premier League, one point ahead of a Liverpool side who host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield tomorrow.

The Reds can reclaim top-spot with a victory against Spurs but the lead in the title race is likely to change hands on a number of occasions over the course of the coming weeks, with City having a game in hand to play later this month.

However, they could be without Aguero for their upcoming matches as the Premier League's leading scorer was taken off in the second half after taking a knock.

“Tomorrow we have the real assessment, he says he felt something but not injured. For precaution he decided not to continue, hopefully it’s nothing serious," Guardiola said after the game.

City are back in action on Wednesday when they host Cardiff City at the Etihad Stadium ahead of their FA Cup semi-final against Brighton next weekend, while Liverpool's next game after the Spurs clash is away against Southampton on Friday.
