Man City sweat on Leroy Sane injury as Bayern Munich lurk

Manchester City are waiting to discover the full extent of Leroy Sane's injury amid Bayern Munich's continued interest.

Reports from Germany last week were so confident that a deal to the Bundesliga champions was done that it was claimed Sane would not take part in Sunday's Community Shield match with Liverpool.

He was instead named in the starting XI at Wembley, only to be forced off in the early stages of the match to put Bayern and the Blues on alert. The player did not look to be in too much discomfort walking to the team bus at the end of the game, but there has since been suggestion that he suffered cruciate ligament damage that would impact on Sane's season - and a potential move.

City have not given an official update on the extent of the injury and are awaiting the results of further tests that will determine what the exact issue is and what action will be needed to treat it.

The club will demand upwards of £135m from Bayern, who do not have to complete a deal by Thursday as the German transfer window only closes on September 2 and the Blues have no plans to sign a replacement if Sane goes.
