Manchester City supporters believe the club should go all out to sign Rodri from Atléico Madrid as Pep Guardiola looks to secure a replacement for Fernandinho.
The Blues struggled to recruit a successor to the 34-year-old midfielder last summer, with Jorginho and Fred opting for respective moves to Chelsea and Manchester United over deals at the Etihad.
Frenkie de Jong, the Ajax midfielder, agreed a summer move to Barcelona in January despite City boss Guardiola's efforts to convince him of a move to City.
The Blues are known to be keen on a move for Rodri, the 22-year-old Spain international, though Lyon's Tanguy Ndombele and Marcos Llorente, of Real Madrid, are believed to be back-up options.
Ndombele, also 22, impressed in Lyon's Champions League group-stage games against City in the 2018/19 season but an MEN Sport poll on Twitter found that 59% of 1,241 voters wanted City to hone in on Rodri.
Ndombele, the France international, received 38% of the vote while Marcos Llorente, the 24-year-old, was the pick of just 3% of voters.
City won an unprecedented treble of domestic trophies last season, but Guardiola has repeatedly insisted that his side will continue to improve next season.
"Already [we have had] three years together with the same people," he said in May.
"Last year just came Riyad [Mahrez].
"After [the season finishes] we are going to decide what the team needs and everybody needs to still be consistent.
"The way we attack right now with 10 players in the box I have the feeling every day we do it better, better."
