Man City striker Sergio Aguero pays tribute to Diego Maradona

Sergio Aguero says he will never forget Diego Maradona, as the football world continues to pay tribute to the Argentine legend.

Maradona passed away on Wednesday at the age of 60, prompting an outpouring of tributes to a player widely considered one of the best to have ever played.

After news of his death was confirmed, Manchester City and other Champions League sides held a minute's silence before Wednesday's fixtures to remember a great of the game.

Among the City squad to face Olympiacos was Aguero, who was married to Maradona’s daughter Gianinna. The pair had a son, Benjamin, before separating in 2012.

Aguero was a second half substitute for City, making his return from injury, and the striker took to social media after the game to share an image of himself with Maradona.

Alongside the image, Aguero simply said: "We're never going to forget you. You'll always be with us."

City manager Pep Guardiola had previously offered his condolences to Aguero, saying: "First from Sergio, because his son, Diego was his grandfather."

Guardiola went on to describe Maradona as one of the best players to play football, while City's Chief Operating Officer Omar Berrada also took to social media to pay tribute on behalf of the club.
