Man City starting XI vs Sheffield United predicted: Bravo and Stones in, Ederson and Mendy out

Pep Guardiola has plenty of selection choices to make ahead of Manchester City's clash against Sheffield United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Blues were defeated by Wolves at Molineux on Friday leaving them 14 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool at the halfway point of the Premier League season.

Ederson received his marching orders for a professional foul outside of his area and his one-game suspension will mean he needs to be replaced for the game against the Blades.

Back up goalkeeper Claudio Bravo will take his place between the sticks with Scott Carson returning to the Man City bench.

With a number of defensive errors leading to goals against Wolves, Guardiola may opt to switch up his defence again for the visit of Chris Wilder's men. Kyle Walker should start on the right and John Stones could return to the team to partner Fernandinho in the centre of the back four if he manages to win a late race for fitness.

Benjamin Mendy lost his first game ever while featuring for City on Friday and it was his mistake that led to the Wolves winning goal. Expect Oleksandr Zinchenko to take his place at left-back if fit.

Kevin De Bruyne was disappointed to be substituted but Guardiola revealed after the game the change was made with the weekend fixture in mind meaning the Belgian should retain his place in the starting XI. Rodri and Bernardo Silva should flank the playmaker in the engine room.

In the final third, Sergio Aguero will be bitterly disappointed to see his return to the team ended after just 14 minutes as he made way for Bravo. The Argentine will be chomping at the bit to get back among the goals. He should be partnered by Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez once again.

Man City predicted XI vs Sheffield United: Bravo; Walker, Stones, Fernandinho, Zinchenko; Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo; Mahrez, Sterling, Aguero.
