Pep Guardiola has gone with a back four against Liverpool as he looks to extend Manchester City's lead over the defending champions to ten points.
City are looking for their first win at Anfield since 2003 in the league, on the back of a 13-game winning run in all competitions. Liverpool, on the other hand, are on a poor run of form and are winless in three games at home in the league having gone 68 unbeaten before defeats to Burnley and Brighton.
Guardiola has understandably gone strong against Jurgen Klopp's men, and has trusted a defence of Joao Cancelo, John Stones, Ruben Dias and Aleks Zinchenko.
That means Aymeric Laporte misses out after starting in a back three at Burnley, while Kyle Walker is not involved at all.
In midfield, Guardiola has tasked Rodri with protecting the defence, with Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva in support.
And up front, Gabriel Jesus is dropped to the bench, with a front three of Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden.
On the bench, Guardiola can call upon youngsters Tommy Doyle and Adrian Bernabe.
Man City starting XI vs Liverpool: Ederson, Cancelo, Dias, Stones, Zinchenko, Rodrigo, Gundogan, Bernardo, Mahrez, Foden, Sterling (C).
Substitutes: Steffen, Jesus, Laporte, Torres, Mendy, Fernandinho, Garcia, Doyle, Bernabe
