Man City stars Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus return to training ahead of Liverpool FC clash in Community Shield

South American striking duo Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero have returned to Man City training.

Guardiola had to cope without the pair for the pre-season tour in the Far East and as a result was forced to play Raheem Sterling in the central striker position, as well as giving opportunities there to Leroy Sane and Lukas Nmecha.

The pair were afforded an extra three weeks off after competing in the Copa America this summer, which Jesus won alongside Fernandinho and Ederson for Brazil - beating Aguero's Argentina in the final.

Now, ahead of the Community Shield final against Liverpool on Sunday at Wembley, they are both back at the City Football Academy.

While the pair returning will come as a welcome boost for Guardiola it is not yet known if he will risk them against Liverpool after less than a week training with the first team.

Centre-back Nicolas Otamendi also returned to training on Tuesday.

City will face-off against Liverpool for the first time on Sunday in what is set to be another year of an intense rivalry.

The Blues go into the game ahead of a pre-season tour of Asia that saw three victories and one defeat on penalties and following the 3-1 win against Yokohama FM Guardiola discussed facing the City's emerging foe.

"I know them better so now I don't have doubts about what they can do," he said.

"I'm not talking about winning or losing but today for example against a team second in the table with incredible dynamic and our lack of physical condition. We made mistakes but that's good in this period. We are going to solve it and I have no doubts that the team will be ready again to try it."
