Man City star says Liverpool are 'best team' he has faced

Man City star Rodri has opened up on how difficult it has been to compete with Liverpool this season in the Premier League .

The Reds lead the two-time reigning champions by 14 points ahead of the weekend and have an eight-point edge over second-placed Leicester City.

City may be through to the knockout stages of the Champions League but even Rodri's team-mate Ilkay Gundogan admitted defeat in the title race earlier this week.

Whilst Rodri wasn't about to make the same frank statement, in an interview with Goal.com he has lavished praise on Jurgen Klopp's men, who have only dropped two points all season.

However, the midfielder insists that he will not be throwing in the towel just yet as City's hopes of retaining their league crown grow slimmer.

"On an individual basis I can say that Liverpool are the best team I have faced," Rodri told Goal.com .

"They dominate at both ends of the field, they are very aggressive.

"They dominate the lines well and that makes them a fearsome team.

"They are very good, but anyone can beat him, so we are going to fight until the end.

"If we focus on Liverpool too much, we are wrong. We would be better looking at ourselves and play as we did at Atletico under Simeone, game by game.

"You can't stop competing and that's what [Pep] Guardiola instils in us every day, that every game is a final."
