Man City star Rodri using break to prepare for life after football

Rodri has used his time away from Premier League football to help set himself up for a career after he hangs up his boots for good.

Manchester City stars have been away from the training ground for close to two months with all top-level competitions suspended as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, leaving the players with far more time on their hands than they are used to.

While it has been important to maintain fitness levels, Rodri has also been using the time to swot up for some imminent exams that count towards his university course. The 23-year-old is working towards a degree in Management and Business Administration and is weighing up what he would like to do after he retires.

"Most of the time I spent it with my brothers, playing football in the garden, tennis table or in the swimming pool," he said. "I also used the time to do homework from my university degree, as there are exams in a few days time. On top of that, obviously, I have been training and keeping fit.

“I can't say now what I'm going to do in the future, but I'm studying a degree in Management and Business Administration because it is a challenge for me, to start a degree and finish it.

"I'm sure it's going to be helpful in the future one way or another. You never know. When I finish my career as a player I'd like to stay in contact with the sports world, but if it doesn't happen, that’s fine too.”
