Man City star Riyad Mahrez ignites Erling Haaland transfer speculation amid Liverpool links

Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez has been captured on film partying with Erling Haaland as the rumours around his Borussia Dortmund future continue to grow.

The forward is one of European football’s hottest properties having averaged around a goal a game for the past two seasons.

The 20-year-old has netted 57 goals in 59 games for Dortmund since joining them in the 2020 January transfer window from Red Bull Salzburg.

That impressive form has resulted in the forward being linked with a host of top clubs around Europe, including Liverpool.

The Norway international has also been linked with a summer switch to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Red Bull Salzburg Sporting Director Christoph Freund claimed back in November that Haaland ‘will land’ at Liverpool instead of Manchester United or even Real Madrid if he leaves Dortmund.

But in recent weeks, speculation has grown that the forward could be Etihad-bound this summer as City look to replace Sergio Aguero

The club's record scorer will officially join Barcelona upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the month and will leave a big hole in the squad.

A replacement is City's transfer priority this summer and club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has claimed he is 'confident' of signing a player capable of filling Aguero's shoes.

Mahrez added fuel to the fire after a video emerged of the two dancing on holiday in Mykonos. The City star wrote on Twitter: “Agent Mahrez on duty,” before he later added: “Just having fun calm down.”

Speaking about his future back in March, Haaland revealed that a club 'must' want him if he is to sign for them and later claimed he does not have any intentions of leaving Signal Iduna Park any time soon.

He said: "I still have three years of contract. I am not upset about that.”

Before continuing: "The media are the ones who write about it, I don't focus on those things. I want to improve every day.

“Ronaldo and Messi, I don't need to talk about them, they are the best of all time. They are still very far away, so to speak."
