Man City star Leroy Sane speaks out after return from injury

Manchester City star Leroy Sane has revealed he suffered no fresh problems on his comeback from injury on Friday night, but does remain a while away from a full return to action.

City have had to cope without Sane all season after the winger suffered knee ligament damage in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool in August.

While the 23-year-old avoided what would have been a season-ending ligament tear, he still suffered significant damage which required surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation.

Sane returned to training in January and, after over six months on the sidelines, he took to the pitch on Friday night for City's Under-23s against Arsenal.

The German managed 57 minutes at the Emirates, as the Blues fought back to win a thrilling game 4-2 thanks to a double from Adrian Bernabe and goals from Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Jayden Braaf.

“It felt really good,” Sane told City's website after the game. “It was good to get a general feeling of how it is to be back on the pitch and how quick it can all be.

“There’s still a gap until I’m 100% and on the level I was before. There’s no doubt about that, but generally, everything feels good.

“I feel confident and I had no problems, so I am happy with today.

“Of course it would be good if I could get back as soon as possible to the best I can be, like I was before. But I’m not putting a lot of pressure on myself to do that.

“I have to get used to the tempo and how quick it is because if you’re out for the time I was, you have to get up to speed.”
