Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker has revealed that advice from Belgium teammate Kevin de Bruyne helped them beat Leeds United.
The Whites were defeated 1-0 at Elland Road on Monday after a deflected striker from Raul Jimenez proved pivotal.
It handed Leeds their first loss since the opening day of the season, a 4-3 reverse against Liverpool at Anfield.
The match against Wolves was Leeds' first action since drawing 1-1 with Manchester City prior to the international break.
It was a pulsating encounter at Elland Road, where both teams gave as good as they got and earned rave reviews from on-watching neutral fans.
City defender Kyle Walker spoke about the intensity of the match whilst on England duty and De Bruyne was too in conversation about Leeds whilst away with his national team.
Dendoncker has explained that his compatriot gave an insight into the difficulties Leeds had posed Manchester City.
“We knew that it was going to be a very tough game and we felt that, especially in the first 20 or 30 minutes we suffered a lot,” Dendoncker explained to Matchday Live Extra. “
That’s just the way they play. They go man against man and I don’t think any team is used to that.”
“They (Manchester City) played them before the international break and Kevin De Bruyne told me that it will be very hard because they go man to man but he also said that after 30 minutes they leave spaces.
“I think that’s what you could see. I know the first half wasn’t really good from our side because we were looking how to find the spaces, how to deal with them.
“In the second half we managed it way better. To get three points here is really difficult and I don’t think a lot of teams will do it.”
