Man City star David Silva names two Liverpool stars in 'best ever' list

Manchester City midfielder David Silva has named one current and one former Liverpool player among the best he has lined up against or alongside in his career.

The Spain international is on the verge of leaving the Etithad Stadium, after spending 10 years will the club following his move from Valencia in 2010.

Silva was asked who is the most talented player that he has lined up alongside for City, and the 34-year-old went on to list a handful of players including current Liverpool midfielder James Milner.

Milner spent five years in Manchester, during which time he made 136 appearances alongside Silva, and the Spaniard has praised the current Reds star.

"Naming one would be unfair,” Silva told Man City’s club media.

“In my team, Kun [Aguero] has scored a lot of goals and very important ones, Yaya [Toure’]s role was fundamental when he was at his peak, Vinnie [Kompany] because the hierarchy he had on the team and on the defence, Joe Hart too.

"When I first arrived, Joe, Gareth Barry, James Milner. They were great players, but they also made things easier for me, they really helped me to settled."

The 34-year-old was also asked who are the toughest players he has faced since his arrival in England, with one being former Reds striker Fernando Torres.

The pair featured together for the Spain national team, but Silva feels the former Reds striker did “great things” during his time in the Premier League.

Silva continued: "I can name a lot of rivals too. [Frank] Lampard, who was my team-mate too, his stats were amazing and he was a great man too.

"There are a lot of Spanish players too like Fernando Torres, Cesc [Fabregas], who has also done great things in the Premier League.

"Players that are part of the competition like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, the Neville brothers. They were all fantastic players and very passionate for their club and the national team too."
