Man City star David Silva hints at future in management after retirement

Manchester City playmaker David Silva has hinted at a future in club management once his playing days are over.

Silva's illustrious spell with the Blues will come to an end this summer when his contract expires.

The Spain international has lifted four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups during his time in England and expects to continue his playing career following his departure.

Silva has been linked with a move to the United States to play for David Beckham's new franchise Inter Miami and a return to Spain has been mooted too.

The 34-year-old has admitted the idea of going into management following his retirement is growing on him.

Asked whether he is interested in the idea of becoming a manager, he told the club's official website: "Not at the beginning, but as the time goes by, I'm having more interest.

"Maybe when I retire from football, I feel that I would like to become a manager.

"Now, I don't know - I still want to play for a few more years."

Back in January, City youngster Phil Foden revealed he noticed a change in Silva during training, noticing the Spaniard was seeing everything as a manager now.

He admitted he wouldn't be surprised to see his teammate in a dugout once his playing days are over.

“Everyone looks up to him, even the younger ones. He is a captain now, and a leader, and does it really well," Foden said.

“I don’t want to speak about him leaving – he’s not gone yet!

“He sees everything like a manager now, so if I’m playing and he’s not he will see something, and it’s the same in training, if he sees something that needs improving."

Asked if he could see him returning as manager one day, he replied: “Maybe, yeah. We’ll see.”
