Man City star Bernardo Silva says he 'feels sorry' for 'pathetic' Liverpool fans

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has claimed he “feels sorry” for Liverpool fans as he took aim at their rivals.

The Reds cruised clear of City to win their first Premier League title after Silva and his side edged a dramatic title race last season.

Pep Guardiola’s side made no secret of their desire to finally end their Champions League curse this campaign only to be stunned by underdogs Lyon in Lisbon on Saturday night.

After being bombarded with messages from gloating Reds fans on social media, Silva could not help but snap back.

He wrote: “And to all Liverpool fans that have nothing else to do than to come to a Man City player account, I’m also sorry for you but for the wrong reasons... pathetic... go celebrate your titles, or try to find a partner, drink a beer with a friend, read a book...so many options”.

In the previous tweet, Silva wrote: “The 2019/2020 season has ended for us in a very disappointing way.

“To all the fans, we’re sorry for this frustrating season. The only thing we can promise is that in 2020/2021 we’ll fight a lot to do much better and get back to winning important things for you guys!”

Despite the disappointment of their Champions League exit, manager Guardiola insisted his side would recover ahead of next season.

He said: "Now, yes, but after the break and when we start the competition again we will recover, we will restart it again. And, you know, to try to do it again.

"Of course, I'm not able with these guys to break this line to the quarter-finals. So three years in a row and we are out.

"I think what these guys has done we deserve to do it again, or to go through and reach the semi-finals, but we are not able. But life is, is how you stand up again and next season we're going to try again."
