Man City star Aleks Zinchenko claims the Quadruple is on for the Blues

Aleks Zinchenko has declared that Manchester City have their eyes on an unprecedented Quadruple as they gear up for the second leg of their Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Blues lead the Bundesliga outfit 2-0 from the first leg heading into tomorrow night's return, which will also be played in the neutral venue of Budapest due to Covid restrictions.

If they get through that unscathed, City will be in the last eight of Europe's elite competition, as well as having a 14-point lead at the top of the Premier League, and being in the League Cup final and the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Manager Pep Guardiola has repeatedly dismissed talk of winning all four, even though he won six trophies in a season with Barcelona.

He claims that the extra rigours of English football make it impossible.

But Zinchenko was not so shy, when asked about the possibility of the feat, and referred to the fact that German aces Bayern Munich mana ged a clean sweep of Bundesliga, German Cup, Champions League and Super Cup last season.

Asked if City could win all thee domestic trophies - as they did in 2018-19, and add the Champions League, the Ukraine international said: "Of course.

"Bayern showed last year. They won everything, right? Barcelona did it as well the other year with Pep and I think of course everything is possible. We've got an unbelievable squad, the best players in the world. Why not?"

Zinchenko says it is clear from looking around the dressing room that the squad wants to achieve a feat no English team has ever managed, and that the fact Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho could both leave this summer adds to the determination.

"Inside the dressing room or inside the team I can see hungry eyes," he said. "Everyone is so hungry for the titles. That's what we want.

"In this period right now I would say there is a bit more than two months. It is the most important two months in our careers,.

"Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho have been here for close to 10 years and they deserve it so we are going to try."
