Man City stance on Harry Winks transfer from Tottenham confirmed

Manchester City will not be making a move for Tottenham star Harry Winks, despite a rumour emanating from the Spurs camp.

The Blues have no intention of buying a holding midfielder this summer, having splashed out a club record £62million on Rodri last year.

And with Ilkay Gundogan able to play that role, City do not see the position as needing any reinforcement.

That did not stop a rumour that Spurs are keen to sell Winks and are asking £40m for him.

Pep Guardiola does like Winks, but there is no desire to add him to the City squad.

Tottenham are desperate to drum up cash to strengthen their own squad, but need to sell before they can buy - and Winks appears to be expendable.

City have already spent £62million this summer on bringing in defender Nathan Ake and winger Ferran Torres.

They are also keen on taking another centre back to the Etihad Stadium, with Kalidou Koulibaly a prime target - although Napoli's asking price appears to be a major sticking point.
