Man City squad numbers available for new signings in summer transfer window

Manchester City are on the cusp of history and could claim a historic treble in the Champions League on Saturday.

But regardless of what happens in Istanbul, football will begin anew in a few short weeks and City will likely be looking to get even better in the transfer market. Though it's unlikely to be as hectic a summer as it was last year.

The priority for Pep Guardiola has to be a new midfielder to inject some fresh blood into the ageing middle of the side. A centre-back, left-back and winger may also be on the shopping list.

Here are the squad numbers currently available for any new City arrivals in the summer transfer window.

No.1 - All three of City's first-choice goalkeepers have opted not to take the No.1, which has been vacant since Claudio Bravo's departure in 2020. With no need for a new signing between the sticks, it will likely remain untaken.

No.11 - Aleks Zinchenko made the No.11 his own after holding the number for two years but left it vacant following his move to Arsenal last summer. Alexandr Kolorov was another left-back to wear the number and if City strengthened the position this summer it could be taken by another.

No.12 - No.12 has been free since Angelino's ill-fated second spell at City came to an end after a single season in 2012. Darius Vassell and Andrey Kanchelskis are among its former holders.

No.15 - An interesting array of players have worn the No.15 for City including Alf-Inge Haaland, Jesus Navas and Sylvain Distin. Its last occupier was Eliaquim Mangala, who finally left the club permanently in 2019.

No.24 - Previously worn by centre-backs Tosin Adarabioyo, John Stones and Nedum Onuoha, the No.24 could be up for grabs if City decide to sign another centre-back in the summer with Aymeric Laporte's future looking uncertain.

The numbers 27,28, 29 30 are all free and then most numbers after No.33 are up for grabs as well. Ilkay Gundogan's future remains uncertain and if he opts to leave the club upon the expiration of his contract then the No.8 will be available for the first time since 2016.

Joao Cancelo is likely to leave permanently following his loan at Bayern Munich and his departure would free up No.7 while No.14 will be free should Laporte leave for pastures new.
