Man City signing Rodri responds to Sergio Busquets comparison

Rodri admits he is a player in a similar mould to Barcelona star Sergio Busquets as he looks to make a name for himself at Manchester City.

The 23-year-old completed his move to City earlier this week and became Pep Guardiola's second signing of the summer transfer window.

Rodri has been brought into City as Guardiola plans for life after Fernandinho, and comparisons have already been made between the new signing and Busquets.

The pair have played together in the Spanish national side and Rodri understands why comparisons are regularly made between himself and the Barcelona defensive midfielder.

"People tell me that they compare me with Sergio Busquets," Rodri told ManCity.com.

"I think i am very similar to him, i play with him in the national team.

"I try to learn a lot from him, but i think i have my own condtitions. Yeah, it is great playing with him."

Speaking at his unveiling this week Rodri piled the praise on City and insisted he signed for the club because they best suited his own style of play.

“The way I play football is close to this thing so that is why I chose Manchester City,” he said. “But it is not just a passing team – they have great strikers, great defence, great midfield.

“I have been following this team for four or five years. They signed great players like David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne, but it is also because of the way of playing, the titles."
